From Local Solar Company to Multi-State Growth and Acquisition
House Collective partnered with an established, 30-year Southern California solar, electric, and roofing company during a five-year period of growth, expansion, and business transition. What began as a focused marketing engagement grew into an ongoing partnership, with House Collective providing marketing leadership, building the foundation and systems for growth, and bringing together a curated team spanning brand and creative, website and search, paid media, manufacturer co-marketing, events, lifecycle communications, and measurement.

Building the marketing foundation.
House Collective partnered directly with the founder and president to develop the marketing strategy and plan, provide ongoing marketing leadership, and bring together the specialists needed for execution.
The engagement began with a focused scope and expanded over five years, with House Collective becoming the company’s full-service marketing team. We connected strategy, brand and creative, website and search, paid media, CRM, lifecycle communications, events, analytics, and ongoing development into a marketing system the company could rely on as it grew.
A complete brand system, online through the field.
House Collective led a full rebrand and built a consistent brand system that carried from the screen to the street. The work spanned brand identity and creative, website and sales collateral, event and exhibit materials, vehicle wraps, uniforms and logos, yard signs, and door hangers.
The result was a consistent, professional presence across customer touchpoints and a library of assets the team could use across campaigns, events, and the field.
“Sarah and her team have created exactly what we asked them to, a growth system that we could rely on. Our lowest cost per acquisition was through those efforts. I know how fantastic they are, and appreciate that they treated our business like their own.”
A digital experience built around the customer journey.
The website became a central part of the company’s marketing system, helping homeowners explore solar, electric, and roofing services, estimate savings, and find clear ways to connect with the team.
House Collective led website strategy, content, search optimization, and lead capture, and built conversion tools including a solar savings calculator and a SunPower design experience. On-site SEO, content, and local listings connected the website with campaigns, CRM, and ongoing reporting. Monthly website visits grew 25X over the partnership.
A connected campaign and lead system.
House Collective led and managed the company’s paid and lifecycle campaigns across search, social, and video, supported by remarketing, email automation, review campaigns, and call-center and live-chat scripts integrated with the CRM.
Inbound leads were followed up within five minutes through a structured, multi-touch sequence, and a recorded live-chat touchpoint reached the majority of leads that became customers. Return on ad spend reached 20X in 2020 and roughly 12X through the first half of 2021.

National manufacturer co-marketing.
As the company’s market presence grew, it was selected for manufacturer-supported marketing opportunities, including a national, education-focused SunPower campaign. House Collective coordinated the co-marketing partnership, managed manufacturer development funds, and led the marketing work through SunPower’s brand review and approval process, maintaining manufacturer brand standards while connecting these opportunities with the company’s broader marketing strategy and customer journey.
From local company to multi-state growth and acquisition.
Monthly leads grew 7.5X, from 12 to a peak of 90, while the marketing budget was reduced by about 27 percent. The company expanded from San Diego across California, Arizona, and New Mexico, with House Collective providing the marketing leadership, systems, and ongoing support needed as the business entered new markets.
During the partnership, the company earned national industry recognition on a leading top-contractors list and regional media features. Its growth from a local solar company into a multi-state operation was followed by an ownership transition, with the founder taking a leadership role in the acquiring group before a planned retirement.
House Collective continued as the company’s marketing team through the ownership transition and successive California net-metering policy shifts, providing continuity across a significant period of change for the business and its leadership.
“Sarah is a rock star and I am so pleased that we have her team on our team as a resource. It’s an exciting time, and her expertise and teamwork are a key part of the alchemy of our success.”
Five years of marketing leadership through growth, expansion, and acquisition.
Over five years, House Collective built the marketing foundation and systems, brought together the curated team, and led the work as the company strengthened its brand, expanded across three states, and moved through an ownership transition.
For a business built over decades, that partnership supported the brand and market presence that carried through to a successful exit.
